Horse Photoshoot in Starnberg, Gauting & Munich: Real Moments with Your Horse
A horse photoshoot captures the quiet bond between you and your horse. I'll show you why Starnberg, Gauting and Munich make such special backdrops – and how to prepare.

There's a certain look between a person and a horse that you simply can't stage. That's exactly the moment I love about a horse photoshoot: the quiet trust, the soft snorting, the mane glowing in the evening light. As a wedding and lifestyle photographer, I accompany you and your horse to wherever you feel most at ease – around Starnberg, Gauting and Munich.

Why a horse photoshoot is more than a pretty picture
For many people, a horse isn't an animal you own but a partner you trust. Years of early mornings at the stable, shared rides and silent moments live inside that relationship. A horse photoshoot holds on to exactly that – not just the glossy coat, but your story.
I'm never after stiff, perfectly posed shots. I look for the real moments: how you rest your forehead against its muzzle, how your horse pricks up its ears, how you understand each other without a single word.

You might already know this closeness from my portrait photography – in a horse photoshoot it becomes a portrait for two, where your horse plays just as big a role as you do.
The most beautiful spots for your horse photoshoot around Munich
The Five Lakes region and the countryside around Munich offer incredibly versatile backdrops – from wide-open meadows to light-filled woodland. Here are my favourite areas.
Starnberg and the Five Lakes region
Around Starnberg we find broad meadows, gentle hills and, on clear days, the Alps on the horizon. The soft light over the countryside flatters every coat colour and gives the images a calm, almost painterly depth.

Gauting and the Würmtal meadows
For many riders, Gauting sits perfectly – close to Munich yet right in the countryside. The meadows and forest edges along the Würm river are wonderfully peaceful and give your horse enough room to move freely and relaxed.

Munich and surroundings
Even close to the city we can create atmospheric images: at a quiet riding stable, on a paddock at the edge of town or in the gentle morning light of a clearing. What always matters most to me is a place where your horse feels safe and calm.
How to prepare yourself and your horse
A relaxed horse is half the photoshoot. With a few simple preparations, we get the very best out of our time together:
- Grooming beforehand: Coat, mane and hooves freshly cleaned on the day – a light shine works wonders in the light.
- Familiar surroundings: Ideally a place your horse already knows, or a little time to settle in before we start.
- Your outfit: Calm, warm tones without loud patterns, so the focus stays on the two of you.
- Helping hands: A trusted person who can hold or lead your horse at the right moment is worth gold.
- Treats & a favourite toy: For attentive ears and a bright gaze exactly when I press the shutter.
Don't worry if your horse gets a little nervous along the way – we work entirely at its pace. That same patience comes from my family photography, where things rarely go to plan and that's precisely what creates the most beautiful images.
Light, timing and real moments
The golden hour
My favourite time for a horse photoshoot is the hour after sunrise or before sunset. The deep, warm light settles softly over the coat, makes dust particles and mane glow, and gives the images that almost magical mood.

Details that tell a story
Alongside the big frames, I love the small ones: the creases around a horse's eye, your hand on the bridle, a strand of mane dancing in the wind. These details turn a set of photos into a memory you can almost touch.
My style: unposed, warm, close
I photograph calmly and attentively, almost like a quiet observer. I give you gentle prompts, but the loveliest moments happen when you focus on your horse and forget about me for a while.

Who stands behind the camera makes a real difference for that trust – which is why I happily share how I work and what matters to me on my About page.
